Christmas Angel Ornaments - How to Crochet

Updated: Dec 21, 2019

Are you in need of a quick and easy Christmas ornament crochet pattern? Well I have just the thing for you! This pattern is so fast and easy you can have a dozen or more done in an hour!

All you need is some white, yellow or gold yarn, an F or G hook, a needle and scissors and you can have you a new set of ornaments in a flash!

This pattern uses the most basic stitch, the single crochet! Other than that you will just need to be able to crochet a row of front loop only stitches and a row of back loop stitches which is super duper easy!

So let us get started!

Stitches:

Sc - single crochet

Sl st - slip stitch

Flo - front loop only

Bl - back loop only

*to* - repeat instructions between asterisks

Skill level - Beginner/Intermediate. If you are unsure of any stitches Youtube will be your best friend! There are great tutorials on the different stitches and on crocheting in rounds.

Language - American Standard Terms

Thank you - I appreciate your business and your support means so much to me! It warms my heart to be able to bless children and families around the world with my “crochet art.” If you need anything please reach out to me and I will be happy to help! Round 1: 10 sc into magic circle, sl st to join, ch 1. (10st)

Round 2: Sc flo in each st around, sl st to join, ch 1. (10 st)

*make sure you you do front loop only in round 2 to get the shape right for the halo/head before proceeding

Round 3 & 4: Sc in each st around, sl st to join, ch 1 (10st)

Round 5: Sc blo in each st around, sl st to join, ch 1. (10st)

Round 6: 2 sc in each st around, sl st to join, ch 1. (20st)

Round 7: *Sc, 2 sc* around, sl st to join, ch 1. (30st)

Round 8: *Sc 2, 2 sc* around, sl st to join, ch 1. (40st)

Round 9: *Sc 3, 2 st* around, sl st to join, ch 1. (50 st)

Round 10: Sc in each st around, sl st to join, leave a tail. (50st)

Ornament Loop:

Begin: with tail from the magic ring weave in through the top fibers of the sc st’s a couple of times. Loop tail over finger one time and push the needle through the center. Leave finger in loop and push through to flip inside out. With rest of tail weave in through the bottom of the starting 10sc’s. Make knot and put a dab of hot glue for extra security. See Pictures.

Note: this is just one option for creating a loop. You can also use a traditional christmas tree ornament hook, piece of ribbon, or chain a loop and sew to top. Feel free to be creative!

Angel wings:

Begin: pinch bottom middle together and use the tail to sew together approximately 3 or 4 st to your liking. See Pictures.

Halo:

Begin: With color B go through front loop of stitches from round 2 all the way around. Tie two tails in a small knot and trim. See Pictures.

And voila you now have a beautiful and classy angle ornament! Feel free to put a little stuffing in the top of the head to help it keep its share or you can simple fluff it back out if gets squished in a box or by some little kiddy hands!
